In mid-May, copper and aluminum prices in China's circulation sector continued to fall

2023 06/02

On May 24, the National Bureau of Statistics released data on price changes of key production materials in the circulation sector for mid-May 2023. Compared with early May, prices of 8 products increased, 41 decreased, and 1 remained unchanged. Among the five major product categories related to wires and cables (as shown in the table above), the price of electrolytic copper (Grade 1) continued to decline for the third consecutive period compared with the previous period, dropping by 1,893 yuan per ton, a decline of 2.8% with an expanding downward trend. The price of aluminum ingots (A00) also continued to fall for the second consecutive period. Among the five major product categories this period, only natural rubber (Standard Rubber SCRWF) continued to rise, achieving a fourth consecutive increase, while the prices of all other products decreased.

Impact on Silicone Wire Manufacturing Costs

The fluctuating prices of raw materials like electrolytic copper directly influence the manufacturing costs of high-temperature cables. However, premium manufacturers mitigate these market volatilities by optimizing material efficiency and utilizing specialized cable designs. For instance, Silicone Braided Wire incorporates a woven fiberglass and silicone resin outer layer, which not only enhances mechanical durability but also allows for optimized conductor sizing without compromising performance. This structural efficiency helps stabilize pricing even when base copper costs fluctuate.

Strategic Sourcing Amidst Market Shifts

As the prices of traditional materials like natural rubber rise, manufacturers are increasingly turning to synthetic silicone rubber for its superior thermal stability and cost predictability. This shift benefits the production of Silicone Double Insulated Wire, which relies on high-grade silicone insulation to provide an extra dielectric barrier. The consistent performance of synthetic silicone ensures that despite broader market volatility, these high-voltage cables maintain their stringent safety standards and remain a reliable choice for industrial applications.

Value-Driven Solutions for Electronics and Lighting

In sectors where space optimization and precise routing are critical, the cost of raw materials is just one factor; the total value of the installation matters most. Silicone Parallel Wire offers a flat-profile design that maximizes space efficiency in compact electronic assemblies and LED lighting fixtures. Its precise manufacturing tolerances and excellent heat resistance provide long-term reliability, ensuring that buyers receive a highly functional product that justifies its material costs, regardless of short-term market price drops.
